Perhaps you're a new cigar smoker, also known as a beginner or 'newbie', unlike our man Jay Walia who is a seasoned pro. With a dazzling choice of 400+ cigars at Cigar Malaysia, it can be tough to know where to start. So here's a brief guide on helping you sift through the selection.

Firstly, you probably want something mild. We have a useful link for mild cigars here which won't blow your head off when you smoke. Choosing something mild or mild to medium is a great place to start so that you can get used to the new sensation of smoking a cigar.

The next question you might ask is “should I choose Cuban or New World?” The best thing to do is try them and see which suits your pallet as everyone is different. Cubans tend to be more complex and with some age (i.e. 3 years+) are incredibly smooth and with age they also become milder and lose their nicotine (which may or may not be a good thing depending on what you're after). New World or non-cuban cigars tend to be more flavoursome and are generally stronger and, in our opinion, deliver a higher nicotine-kick than Cubans.

Don't be afraid to pay a little more to try something new, and see what the extra cost gets you. Trying different cigars is all part of the journey, and you should dabble to find which you prefer, that's half the fun! All our cigars are available as loose sticks, so get stuck in and sample them all.
